Self-service electric bike service

   Service overview

In Guadeloupe, the role of the transport sector is predominant since it currently represents two thirds of Guadeloupe's energy consumption.

As part of Guadeloupe's energy self-reliance goal by 2030, two areas of work stand out for this goal:

  • decarbonize current transport systems
  • reduce the use of private cars
The Kara e-bike project offers answers to these two objectives by deploying multimodal platforms which will allow the charging of electric cars (EV) using photovoltaic (PV) solar energy and the self service rental of electrically assisted bicycles self service.

This project was able to take place thanks to the call for project "Sustainable Mobility 2018 edition – Towards low-carbon and accessible mobility" funded by ADEME.

It is in this context that 15 self-service electric bikes are available in the municipalities of Marie-Galante: Capesterre and Grand Bourg.
